Road Safety Officer

Promote and implement Road Safety Programs across four collaborating Councils (Temora Shire, Bland Shire, Junee Shire and Coolamon Shire). The successful applicant may have their prime location at any of the participating Council offices. 

As Road Safety Officer you will deliver the practical road safety initiatives identified in the Road Safety Plan. The role is wide encompassing, not only facilitating behavioural road safety education, but also influencing the construction of infrastructure to improve the safety of road users.

You will work across engineering, community services, planning, communications, and customer service areas within Council and provide links to community stakeholders, community groups, local health, Police officers and local businesses, all of whom contribute to road safety over the long term.

Benefits: 

  • Full Time, Permanent
  • $73,330 to $87,613 p.a. plus 11.5% Superannuation
  • Motor vehicle is provided for official use

Application Requirements: 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a related discipline or extensive relevant experience. 
  • Strong communication skills to consult and network with key agencies, senior management, community groups, local businesses and other stakeholders to identify local road safety needs.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision and the ability to work flexible hours as required.
  • Ability to undertake research, analyse statistics and to use computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to undertake the physical aspects of the position including placement of Variable Message Board, erection of temporary signage and other duties.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media as a primary means of disseminating information and providing a conduit to the community.
