TAFE NSW is offering some subsidised courses that could allow for upskilling, basic skill building and the opportunity to retrain for a career change.

Introduction to Computers  - 2hrs/day      

Throughout this course, you will learn how to use a personal computer, operate word processing applications, communicate and search securely on the internet, and access everyday online services such as Medicare and internet banking.

This course may assist students to re-enter the workforce or gain skills with technology for everyday engagement. Numbers are limited, so please contact TAFE asap and book a spot.

Cert I in Access to Vocational Pathways - 2 days per week        

This course will give you the foundation skills you need in a supportive learning environment. Units in this course have been selected to immerse the learner in digital literacy whilst discovering how to:

•           Use basic strategies for workplace learning

•           Use digital technology to perform basic workplace tasks

•           Locate, compare and use highly familiar measurements for work

•           Use whole numbers and money up to one thousand, for work purposes

•           Participate in basic spoken exchanges for work

•           Read, respond and write basic workplace information

SEE (Skills for Education & Employment) eligible students may enrol in this course if referred by Job Active.

Cert II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways - 2 days per week

This course will help you develop foundation skills in a supportive learning environment. During the program you will learn how to use basic strategies for workplace learning including gaining experience in using digital technology for workplace tasks. You will participate in basic spoken exchanges used for work and gain confidence to read, respond, and write basic workplace information. You will also learn numeracy skills to locate, compare and use familiar measurements for work purposes. This course is generally targeted at participants wishing to improve their skills to gain employment and subsequently all learning is contextualised to the work environment.

Under 17yrs may enrol in this course if they have approved release from school OR have completed year 10.

These TAFE courses are available to Australian citizens over the age of 15 who have left high school and/or are unemployed or have recently become unemployed (within the last nine months).
