Cup Win for the McRaesLast modified: November 4, 2009 - 3:28 PM
The results of the 2009 Narraburra Cup Soil Conservation Competition were announced last Friday evening, during an informal function at the Shamrock Hotel in Temora. The winners this year of the prestigious award were Simon and Marita McRae of Young Road. The McRaes were first time entrants in the 75 year old competition and chosen from among the four finalists announced the previous week. Runners up this years were Steve & Kim Roberts, who operate a free range piggery from their property. For the second year, the competition was ludged using a "peoples choice" format. A bus tour was conducted during the day of each of the four finalists properties and those who attended ultimately decided the winners. The competition is the oldest of its kind in the southern hemisphere and these days, is sponsored by three major stakeholders, Temora Shire Council, Temora Show Society and Westpac.
