The Shire of Temora offers all the benefits of country living with a comprehensive range of quality affordable services.
We are situated approximately 80 km north of Wagga Wagga in the South West (Riverina) area of New South Wales. Canberra is two hours drive to the east, with Griffith a 1.5 hour drive to the west.
Temora Shire includes the town of Temora, and villages of Ariah Park and Springdale. The diversity and strength of agriculture is the foundation of the local economy. Temora Shire is strategically positioned in the heart of the State's rich sheep-wheat belt.
Attractions that are worth visiting while in Temora are the award winning Temora Rural Museum and the Temora Aviation Museum. The museum hosts a unique collection of operational historic aircraft including a Spitfire and Tigermoth. The proprietor has the simple aim of making this the best aviation museum in Australia.
Temora boasts a very active harness racing program during the season, and has a strong emphasis on maintaining the excellent standard of sporting facilities within the Shire.
Temora is extremely proud of its many outstanding parks available for you to rest and relax in, while taking a break from driving. Most parks are equipped with free gas barbecues, and are strategically placed in shady areas of the parks. Lake Centenary, a man-made lake, is a short 5 minute drive from Temora and offers the same excellent facilities as the parks and gardens within the town and district.
Whilst in the area, take time out to visit Ariah Park, a classic country village about 30km North-West of Temora. As well as the vibrancy of a modern community, Ariah Park has retained the charm of yesteryear and is full of interesting history.
What more can a country town offer but excellent facilities, great hospitality, and a friendliness that will greet you where ever you go in the district.
